Homeschooling at the Speed of Life

Have you ever found a reference book that you fell in love with immediately that made you want to buy a case of to give to your family and friends? As I read through Home Schooling at the Speed of Life by Marilyn Rockett a larger picture emerged than the one I had been expecting. This is not a curriculum book or a list of books for your homeschoolers to read.
This large-size book is more about a life lesson on being organized at every level of life. Home Schooling at the Speed of Life is the blueprint for running a well-oiled machine with all the parts working together and God as the oil. Organizing begins at the front door and plans for everything that comes into and goes out of our homes. The book covers such important subjects as home management, hospitality, what to do about clutter and diversified record keeping.
Marilyn’s collection of personal stories had me nodding along in agreement as well as smiling. Quotes from the Bible and a diverse range of wise people are sprinkled throughout each of the ten chapters. KISS and FSHARP helped me organize my home office within just a few hours. Her points are easy to understand and just as to implement.
Each chapter ends with Stop, Look, Think a series of questions designed to get and keep the reader on track. Additionally, the devotional questions ask, “What Are You Thinking?” designed to keep the spirit on track with selected Bible verses for reading and meditation. The CD-ROM in the back of the book is loaded with helpful progress tracking charts. I wish I’d had Marilyn’s book when I began home schooling years ago. But even still, many of the charts are designed with the whole household in mind. If you want your familly to be at its best, balanced and at peace with the Lord smack in the center of your life, this book is for you.
